The Captain's Wines Menu. The Steerman's Quarters Menu. The Empress Lilly Riverboat was named after Walt Disney's wife, Lillian Disney, and was an authentic re-creation of a 220ft 19th century paddle wheeler decorated in Louis XV style. It was open on Lake Buena Vista at Walt Disney World from 1977 to 1995. It consisted of several dining room options and The Empress Room was the higher end, dressy dinner room. The Steerman's Quarter was one of the other dining rooms offering steak, venison, buffalo, lamb and duck. The Empress Room menu measures 16 1/2" x 10" and is covered with an ornate gold embossed foil. There are 14 pages listing menu items in French with English subtitles. The Captain's Wine List measures 10 1/2" x 7 1/4 ". The Steerman's Menu measures 15 1/2" x 8 5/8". These would be a wonderful addition to your Walt Disney World collection of memorabilia.
My father worked as a typesetter for WDW in the 70's and he was involved in producing these menus. The gold Empress Room and Captain's Wine List menus were difficult to photograph due to the mirror like reflection of the foil. I found the best way was in natural light on a cloudy day, laying on the grass. Please contact me with any questions.
